Pomeroy tubiligation?

I believe that the tubaligation I had 17 years ago is called the Pomeroy technique. (cut and cauterized)? In all of these years, I have never once thought of it failing, until recently. I have had some strange periods or lack of, that concerns me each month. I hadn't had a period in almost four months, but this month I did, and knew I would because I felt the old familiar signs of ovulation. It was so light I couldn't believe it! I just had several tests run to find out what was going on....nothing was found to be wrong. They did find fibroids on the uterus, simple cysts on the ovaries and explained that those were what was causing my "HORRIBLE" periods, cramping, heavy, heavy flow and terrible pms. This period, I had less than 1/2 of all those symptoms. It was mostly spotting, very slight cramping. Nothing compared to my norm. Then a week after that stopped, I had one day of brown mucus.

How safe is it to assume that after this long, I am still "safe"? I am 43 and am petrified that somewhere down the line I could find myself wondering how becoming pregnant could happen to me??? I am very fertile, (or was), pregnant 6 times with 3 m/c's. Should after this long, I be concerned? Thank you....(sorry it's so long)!
