Producing Milk and Trouble ConceivingFrom: KB (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 31 Mar 2003 20:22:04 -0600 (CST)
Hello- I am 29 years old. I have a two year old (27 months) daughter who I nursed for 1 year. During my yearly exam, I mentioned that I still can produce milk (or a milky discharge) from both breasts. My GYN did tests for prolactin and TSH. Both came back normal (6.8 and 1.65 respectively). My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 6 months now and have had at least 2 preclinical pregnancy losses. Are these two conditions associated? If the prolactin and tsh levels are normal, why can I still produce milk? Will this inhibit conception? Are there other tests that should be done? Thank you for your time and effort to answer these questions.
