It can really go both ways. I was really lucky. My cervix was high and closed when they applied the gel to soften it. I guess my body was ready because the gel got my labour going in about 5 hours and I didn't need any pitocin at all. I had 2 hours of tolerable contractions and 2 hours of very hard labour and gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. This was my second baby and generally, inductions are easier for moms who have been through it before. I hope things go as well for you. Good luck.
