DR PLEASE: How will I know if I'm in labor?From: Suzanne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 31 Mar 2003 12:01:26 -0600 (CST)
I know this sounds nuts, but I'm worried I won't feel any contractions, and therefore I won't know if I'm in labor. Neither my mom or her sister "felt" contraction, and their children came very quick. I'm 39 weeks and 1 day today - due this Sunday. With my mom's first (my brother), her water broke (thankfully so she had a clue what was going on). She went to the hospital and he was born 3 hours later. With me, she said her stomach hurt a little bit. She called the Dr, and went in to get checked. She was dilated to a 10! I was born 2 hours later. The policy in my Dr's office is to not call until you have had contractions that occur 5 minutes or less for TWO hours. I'm worried they won't let me come in to get checked, and that I won't make it to the hospital. Any advice? Thanks!
