With my first, I was induced a day before my due date, due to toxemia. My cervix was nowhere near ready. The pitocin was AWFUL- it intensified the contractions by at least 10x. They had to use forceps, and I had 4 th dgree tearing of cervix, perineum, anus. Two episiotomies as well. General anasthetic to stitch me up. My second, I vowed she could be half way to college before I let them induce me- I wasn't going to voluntarily go through that again (I wasn't toxemic the second time, tho- no preobs with the pregnancy). I went 2 WEEKS overdue, but by that time, I was 4cm dilated from painless BH contractions. My labour was very easy comparitively, it was totally natural, no drugs and just a very minor surface tear. I had her in 8 hrs total- from very first mild contraction to birth of placenta and breastfeeding in the delivery room. I had a much better experience bonding, breastfeeding-everything! Now I am onto my third, and once again, so long as everything is ok with the baby- no way I'd want to be induced for no good medical reason... Just my two cents, but it could make the difference between a nightmare birth experience now, or a wonderful one when your body is good and ready:) Best wishes, Darcie
