Dear Sarah,

I just looked at my reply and realized that I wanted to add something. Since your body is keeping the pregnancy, that's a very good indicator that the spine is doing OK. Mother Nature will try and miscarry fetuses with severe disabilities, so keep your hopes up - I bet everything is just fine.

Also, it just occurred to me that you may want to supplement your folic acid requirement - just in case. It's known to prevent spina bifida and other neural disorders. So, buy a folic acid supplement in the store and eat lots of broccoli throughout your pregnancy. It may or may not help... but if I recall my timelines correctly, it will. You can double-check with your obgyn.

Best wishes to you once again,
