I am about 27 and 1/2 weeks pregnant, recently diagnosed with GDM and will start NPH qPM today. I also started having regular contractions since 3 days ago, as much as 9 per hour. I was seen at L&D last Mon. and my cervix was closed and long so I was sent home. Saw a perinatologist today who confirmed that my cervix is closed by transvaginal U/S and have started me on Nifedipine 10 mg q4h. Said that I was having preterm contractions but not preterm labor. He also said that I could go back to work, but I work 8-10 hour days and am on my feet a lot. I am very concerned about this and am wondering if I should be put on time off/disability??? Will the nifedipine prevent preterm labor?
