miscarriage and beta levelsFrom: Alicia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 13 Mar 2003 10:37:56 -0600 (CST)
I recently miscarried with the following history: brown spotting that began at 5w3d and stopped 7w4d Beta at 5w4d 12,000 u/s at 6w1d sac only sized at 5w5d, no fetal pole u/s at 8w4d showed a sac and possible fetus sized correctly but no hb beta at 9w2d 106,000 bleeding began at 10w3d when beta was ~50,000 D&C at 12w2d with beta ~6,800 beta 1 week after D&C ~2,200 I have a few questions. First, the radiologist deemed the second u/s a suspected blighted ovum. I saw something in the sac that the tech measured at the right size. It was gone in a sono 1 week later. My understanding is that betas are low with a b.o., but mine seemed to be right on track. Does this sound like a b.o?? Second, my beta is dropping way too slowly. What may cause this? Is there anything I can do to speed it along? I've been bleeding now for 3 weeks. Is this related to the beta levels? Thanks for your time. Alicia
