Carol, I'm new to this forum so I don't know if it's OK for anyone to answer or just the doctors but I'm at 15 weeks and I had my first appointment at about 10 weeks...I had a regular annual exam already scheduled when I found out I was pregnant and at about 4 weeks called to let them know that my existing appointment, which would have been at about 8 weeks, needed to be "reclassified" as a first prenatal instead of an annual..well, they cancelled that appointment and said they wouldn't see me until 10-12 weeks. From the other forums I participate in, I've found that the only ones having first appointments at 6-8 weeks are those who have either miscarried or had a previous pregnancy that had some sort of complication. So, I think what you're experienceing is "normal" but as with me, nervewracking!
