Barbara, Hang in there...you're almost at the 12 week mark. For me, I had severe morning sickness too, and lost 10-15 lbs my first trimester. I'm thin to begin with, so that amount of weight was significant. My morning sickness stopped completely once I was in my 12th week, which is very common. I went on to gain the weight I lost, then another 10-15 lbs, and delivered a 9 lb. boy. As far as I know, there is no correlation with sickness and gender. This is another one of those old wives tales. Morning sickness is not imagined, or in your head -- it is a real physical condition. Don't pay any attention to your mother-in-law. She should keep her mouth shut. What a nasty insinuation to make. You are not a wimp. It's a horrible feeling to know you're body and your baby needs to eat, and not physically be able to.

I personally never found any relief with the morning sickness, only hitting 12 weeks. The one recommendation I will make to you is to be sure to take your prenatal vitamins religiously. I had a tough time with those horse pills, but found that taking it right before bed was the best, to avoid them "repeating" on me.

Best of luck. Let us know how you're doing.

Peace, Lynn
