26 weeks and belly button ringFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netFri, 7 Mar 2003 23:11:01 -0600 (CST)
OK so this is obviously not a life-or-death type question but here it is: I had my belly button pierced for YEARS and had taken it out before I got pregnant. I think the hole is still open. I'm now six months and getting a real kick out of the idea of going back and putting in a belly button ring- something snazzy and purple, you know - but when I went today to get the ring the lady at the counter told me to go ask my doctor first. She said many pregnant women are told by their doctors not to wear one. I know the holes stretch but if I get a big enough thing it should fit. (I do not think I'm going to get an outie... it's really a very deep belly button). Is there any MEDICAL reason why I should not re-insert a belly button ring into a 6-month-pregnant belly just for kicks? (I dont' have a doctors' appointment for two weeks and I am NOT calling on this one...) K
