You're OK. :) No, you do not ovulate DURING your period. Yes, it is theoretically possible to ovulate right after your period but that's not likely if her cycles are regular (and she says they are 28 days plus or minus two days). So most likely she ovulates on days 13-15 (counting from the first day of her last menstrual period). The reason those sites say you can get pregnant when you're on your period is because in theory sperm can live 5 days (I've never seen 7 days) in the cervix and if you have sex on day 6 of her period, well that's pushing you to day 11 and in theory she could ovulate on day 11 or before day 11 if she ovulated early that month (and some girls don't have regular cycles, and they might ovulate early sometimes). BUT , let's notice that it's NOT very likely... especially if you are using a condom with spermicide. The World Health Organization has found that the "rhythm method" -- WHEN FOLLOWED EXACTLY TO A T -- is actually something like 98 percent effective. But in order to really follow the rhythm method, your girlfriend would need several classes in Fertility Awareness, she would have to chart her cycles very carefully, and you would have to abstain from sex for all but a 10-day period each month. Most teenagers (most ADULTS, even) are not willing to do all that so it is not a recommended method. It really sounds to me like the Pill would be a good option for your girlfriend- you are a worrier and the pill (if she takes it every day) is pretty fool-proof. Good luck and get off the Internet and go see a movie or something. Some of those Teen Sites are intended to scare you into not having sex. That might be an option for you, too, because you dont' want to worry like this every month, do you?? KM
