Re: DOES SEX REALLY SPEED UP LABOR?From: Venessa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 2 Mar 2003 07:06:07 -0600 (CST)
Hi there. Firstly, I’m about due myself and I couldn’t love this baby more. However, I hate being pregnant, this is the fourth time and it’s no better. Morning sickness, all sorts of strange pains, lumbering about like a ox, looking like a mailbox, feeling tired and moody and I know people may get upset but feeling the baby kick and turn and stretch my inside, while the movement is very reassuring and I would be panicked if I couldn’t feel it, for all those women who will miss feeling my baby inside of me I am not one of them. : -) Hope I don’t sound unmotherly. I have been stay at home with all my kids until they reached school age because for me it makes sense and is important. I love kids! No, not in a stew. Whatever. I do understand the frustration and anticipation in the last weeks to be rid of physical limitations of pregnancy and to see and hold your little baby. Each time -expect this one- the baby was out of the woods and could be delivered safely I tried everything. Black Cohosh, this made my blood pressure sky rocket and gave me the worst headache I’ve ever had, no labor though. Raspberry leaf tea; mild irritating uterine cramps. Castor oil ach! diarrhea from hell with a side order of severe nausea. Who can agrue with orgasms? I had my share and they were great, they made me have strong contractions but upon doctors inspection caused no changes to my cervix. I even tried retaining my husbands ejaculate and elevating my hips for several hours. I also tried riding over pothole filled roads. Walking for miles, which got rid some weight but didn’t make labor come. For me only and act of god or my doctor would change my cervix. It ended up being my doctor because I pressed for induction. I won’t do it this time because I’m better educated now and realize “natural childbirth” sans induction and epidural most like will not be as stressful for me and the baby once it actually starts on it’s own and I know if it’s to much I can ask for help/drugs. I know you’re must be tired of hearing it (I am) but it won’t be much longer. Best of luck to you!
