I am a 31 yo and my dentist has recommended I take a fairly new drug called Periostat to ward off periodontal disease for a period of 3 months. I would like to get pregnant again in December 2003 (already have 1 child and 1 miscarriage). I have read that this drug can have harmful side effects if taken while pregnant or nursing and was wondering how it could effect a future pregnancy 6 months after stopping dosage.

My dentist cannot give me a straight answer. Thank you so much for any help you can give me.
