I'm not a doc, but I am one of MANY women who have had severe morning sickness. I would go days with only water and crackers. I lost 10-15 lbs. in the first trimester (and I'm thin to begin with). So, to me, I don't consider your wife went a long time without eating at all. In fact, sounds to me like she's well nourished! Just tell her to take her vitamins religiously. I did, and I think that's why my son was born so healthy. BTW, after my morning sickness subsided at 12 weeks, I was able to eat normally, ended up gaining almost 20 lbs, and went on to have a 9 pounder! Please try not to worry...good luck. Peace, Lynn
