triple screens, ultrasounds, amnio....From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 28 Feb 2003 18:38:23 -0600 (CST)
I am 35 years old and am trying to decide whether or not to have an amnio. I asked my doctor if I could have the Triple Screen first and then, depending on the results, decide about the amnio after. She said that they like to do amnio around 15 weeks and Triple Screens around 17/18 (plus time for the results). This doesn't make sense to me...why couldn't I just do the amnio later, say at 19 weeks? Is it because termination, if one was going to terminate, is more risky or difficult this late? Any thoughts would be appreciated, except from those that wish to debate the termination piece - this would be an inapproriate forum for that. Thanks....
