Yes. I never lost my plug with either of my pregnancies, and did not experience bloody show until I was in active labor and after several hours of painful contractions.

The plug can be lost so gradually that it seems like normal pregnancy discharge. Bloody show is caused by the disruption of blood vessels in your cervix as it opens. Sometimes this can happen before labor starts, but it's just as common not to notice any bloody discharge until you are in active labor and really starting to dilate.
