I am not a doctor, but before one answers, I will give you a quick message that not eating for 5 hours will almost certainly not do her any harm. Many women have morning sickness at 8 weeks which will cause them to not be able to eat very much, for much longer periods of time and they come out of it okay. At this period of time, the baby's nutritional requirements are not high. As for the breast tenderness, symptoms can come and go and do not necessarily mean anything is wrong - check the archives for this. From what I understand the ultrasonographer 'saw' the heartbeat but couldn't 'hear' it because of your wife's tipped uterus. If she or he saw the heartbeat at eight weeks, then things are probably okay. However, to put her mind at ease, you could see your doctor / midwife and ask your questions. My bet is that your wife and baby are fine! Good luck!
