VBAC versus cesearFrom: marion (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 26 Feb 2003 18:47:19 -0600 (CST)
I am 37 weeks preg with one previous cesear and have gestational diabetes which is under control. I am looking at VBAC unless I am overdue. The tendency is for women like myself is to be pushed into cesears due to 1.5% of uterine rupture risk. In reading on the web about such things it seems that it has been over prescribed and there is a tendency in some conutries now to encourage VBAC. What say you? IS the risk lower than other complications. I am also trying to find out studies of post cesear problems. It seems once the woman is out of hospital and more or less recovered thats the end of monitoring. She doesnt usually go back 2 years later because of recurrent back pain. Is there are difference between an epidural assisted birth and a cesear where needle to left in the back or a day or so. What are the risks of general over epidural? Are there any studies regarding post op cesear complications? thanx Marion
