Dear Claire,

I am not surprised a blood test is very expensive. I would consult Planned Parenthood and see what they suggest. If you are not satisfied with the answers, I would call different doctors in the area and see what they offer. Someone will have an answer that does not cost $300.

Another thought - I would not postpone your health coverage for another 4 months. Anything could happen. Perhaps you just had a cycle without ovulation, leading to no period - pretty normal stuff. If you have a normal unwanted pregnancy, termination is much less likely to harm your health if you do it early. The worst case scenario is that you have an ectopic pregnancy, which will need fairly extensive medical attention, or something else could go wrong. I would just go to the courthouse with your fiance, quietly get married, and get you onto your fiance's insurance. No one besides the two of you has to know.

I am sorry if I am giving you too much advice,
