I had a similar thing happen to me. My HPT turned out positive and the same day my blood test turned out negative. A few days later my HPT came back positive again and then the blood test came back positive. I was just REALLY early and the HPT detected it, but the HCG level was not high enough for the blood standard to show me as pregnant yet. I hate to bring this up, but if this is not the case, but did your Dr. think that maybe the light spotting was maybe a miscarrige? That could make your HPT turn positive. Best of luck to you!
