question about the need for progesterone in early pregFrom: dawn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 15 Feb 2003 18:04:22 -0600 (CST)
Dear All, I was diagnosed w/ PCOS by an RE about one week before I found out I was pregnant. She did an ultrasound, which found a 7w1d pregnancy, w/ visible heartbeat; she also saw the corpus luteum. However, she did not measure my progesterone levels. My question: was she negligent, or is progesterone only useful in earlier stages of pregnancy? Should she have checked whether I needed progesterone support at that point, or was seeing the embryo w/ heartbeat an indication that progesterone wasn't needed? My first appt. w/ my high-risk OB is not until Wed. -- 10w3d. Thanks for the information, Best, Dawn
