Labor and Heredity - scared, please help.From: Suzanne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 14 Feb 2003 15:00:34 -0600 (CST)
Hi, I'm almost 33 weeks pregnant. My mother (with both her pregnancies) didn't even feel contractions! With her first child (my older brother), her water broke at 1:30 am. He was born at 6 am. With her second child (me), she felt like she had a stomach ache. She went to the hospital, and they told her she was 10 cm dilated. She had me right away (within 3-4 hours of feeling her first "stomach pain."). What are the chances of this happening to me? I'm terrified I won't know when I'm in labor. I have never had a single menstrual cramp (yes, I know I should count my blessings), and so far, no BH contractions! Will I know when I'm in labor, and therefore, have time to get to the hospital? What are the chances she had an incompetent cervix, and just didn't know it? thanks....
