Take this for what it's worth, since I'm clearly not a doctor, but it seems to me that if he suspected that hormonal insufficiencies were the cause of the mid-cycle spotting, there would be a pretty easy blood test to order to find out for sure -- you could do 3 and 21 day levels, for example. Did he do tthose tests? I would hate to think that he would put you on Clomid so quickly w/out doing a full workup -- after all, it's not THAT easy a drug to be on, and it does have side effects...
