Low dose asprin, chronic high blood pressure and high cholesteral - Q for DrsFrom: Abbey (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 11 Feb 2003 11:48:12 -0600 (CST)
I am 39, have chronic high blood pressure and high cholesteral (slightly above borderline). I have been ttc for 6 months. I take hctz for my blood pressure and started Clomid this cycle for treatment of LPD. I used to take Zocor for my cholesteral but my ob/gyn told me to stop once I started ttc. The regular dr which I see for my blood pressure & cholesteral suggested trying to add more fiber in my diet and using fiber supplements to help because I am not taking Zocor anymore. I just started the fiber supplement. My question is: I have heard of people using low dose asprin (81 mg) for heart problems and thinning out blood. Would it possibly benefit me to take low dose asprin to help with the cholesteral issues while I continue to ttc or would it not make any difference? Also, can asprin affect the way the hctz or Clomid work? I want to optimize my chances of getting pregnant, but do not want to hurt myself in the process. Thanks for your help.
