Lindsay, I am 25 weeks and started having preterm labor last week. I've been on bedrest for a few weeks already because my cervix was too soft and starting to shorten. Last Thursday, my doctor put me on half-doses of brethine because my cervix was open a fingertip and the contractions weren't going away. I see my doctor again tomorrow and if my cervix has changed at all, I have to go on full bedrest and full doses of brethine (I couldn't start out with full doses because it sped my heartrate up above 120). I will also get a steriod shot just incase. I think that at this point in your pregnancy, the lungs are pretty much developed but a steriod shot probably wouldn't hurt. Like you I am young, only 19. I left the forum last month because a few women gave me a hard time but since I'm on bedrest I have nothing better to do. Good luck with everything, keep us all posted on what happens. I know exactly how scared you are. I'll keep you and the baby (and your husband!) in my prayers.
