Re: Procardia/NifedipineFrom: Sierra (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 3 Feb 2003 16:36:52 -0600 (CST)
Hi Mary, I'm no doctor, but I wanted to give you some reassurance about the medication you've been prescribed. I was hospitalized at 24 weeks for preterm labor and was prescribed Procardia and Terbutaline (and I took Vistaril because the Terbutaline made me sick). Later in my pregnancy, while still on these meds, I was prescribed Labetalol for pregnancy induced hypertension and preeclampsia. I was very worried about the effects of all this medication on my unborn baby - I was taking 22 pills a day!! The good news is that, due to my preeclampsia, I was induced at 38 weeks and delivered a healthy baby boy. He just had his two month checkup today and his pediatrician said he is doing very well and he seems to be very advanced for his age. I know every pregnancy and every baby will be different, but my advice is to trust your doctor. I wish you the best in your pregnancy. -Sierra
