Re: Can't stop worrying....From: sarah (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 3 Feb 2003 02:22:35 -0600 (CST)
I know EXACTLY what you are going through. I had a misdiagnosed ectopic which led to rupture at three months, and then I was really worried I'd never be able to have children. I also had a laparoscopy to check for adhesions after surgery and they put some dye through my remaining tube. After a year of trying, I eventually got pregnant, but after the inital delight the sheer worry set in. At first I thought it was another ectopic, then with every twinge I thought I was losing the baby, or if my smptoms faded a bit I thought I'd had a missed abortion. I think I thought things couldn't possibly go right because I was so used to them going wrong. Anyway, turns out I had a beautiful healthy baby girl and i'm now pregnant again! The good news is that a) you're almost at the magic 12 week mark now. Most miscarriages happen in the first trimester, so after that your worry should ease a bit. b) often in the second trimester your body and mind become a lot calmer and pregnancy brings a relaxed, calm feeling c) the chances of anything going wrong are greatly reduced now you've seen a healthy heartbeat d) you probably only hear about so many horror stories because they're not the norm. Every day billions of women around the world have healthy, happy pregnancies, and chances are you'll be one of them! I know you'll feel better and more confident soon. Good luck!
