I have to come down on both sides of this issue-on the one hand, I don't believe there are any medical studies that prove a high protein diet will prevent preterm labor. On the other hand, just because something hasn't been proven doesn't mean it couldn't possibly be true. The truth is, the medical profession does not know what causes preterm labor, or how to prevent it. There are most likely a multitude of contributing factors involved. Diet could be a factor-there is more incidence of preterm labor in malnourished women. It seems to me if something isn't harmful and might possibly be helpful it's worth a try!
