Re: Protein? Pre-term delivery with twins-let's not be so quick to judge

Yes, and, for the record, my OB (who has a real true medical degree from a prestigious Ivy League school and has delivered THOUSANDS of babies!) has told me that there is actually some evidence high protein intake can -- for some women -- prevent or ward off preeclampsia. But just like anything, of course it will not work for all women. Just like chemotherapy will kill cancer in one person and not in another. I have not asked him about protein and PTL but admittedly the "childbirth educator's" comment was the first time I'd heard that. To the person whose doctor said it was all a crock - guess what- doctors are fallible and in fact they are quite often wrong. If you need examples, I'd be happy to give them to you (I've had a couple of real doozies in the past couple of weeks). Doctors are generally great and caring people but no one person can know all the research and all doctors have their areas of knowledge and areas of weakness. Many (not all) doctors are weak on nutrition. They'd rather give you a pill.
