Re: false laborFrom: Heather (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 31 Jan 2003 10:00:55 -0600 (CST)
I have had 3 children only one of which I carried to term, but never the less, I went into false labor so many times, I might as have lived at the hospital for the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy. My doctor finally had me time the contractions I was having. They would range anywhere from 1-30 minutes apart. Sometimes they were extremely painful, and other times my stomach just got hard. However I was gradually dilating. Pain or no pain you will dilate when your body feels like it is time. One thing my doctor told me was that if you are having contractions the easiest ways to tell if it is the real thing are: 1) if you lay down on your side and they don't stop 2) if the become very regular It is funny how your body instsntly go into a regular pattern when you are really in labor. When I did actually go into labor my husband was watching the monitor and the contractions were so regular that he was actually telling me when the next one would come. I hope this helps some, good luck with your new little angel.
