The atkin's diet has been a major controversy in my circle of friends for the past few years. Before doing anything look up all you can about ketosis (which isn't too bad in a person with normal sugar levels but bad for diabetics and people with sugar problems) also, about too much protien in the body - it can be bad for the kidneys. You can loose weight - no doubt but you can never eat bread or other carbs again - ever. The best way to loose weight is to burn more calories than you eat. That means eating things that are good for you and eating enough small meals a day to keep your metabolism going. It's easier said than done but instead of denying your baby nutritious foods - just give yourself (while pregnant) enough to keep up with your activities so you don't lose giving them the things that are good for them and you don't gain weight. Good luck - it's a tough battle
