false laborFrom: Shari (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 31 Jan 2003 01:12:52 -0600 (CST)
I am 36 weeks pregnant. Wednesday I woke up with the worst headache ever and it lasted all day. Tylenol did not help. Thursday around 2:00 in the morning I began having severe menstrual like cramping in my lower abdomen. Then at 5:00 contractions set in. They were sporadic ranging from every 3-12 minutes. I waited until 8:30 to call my doctor and the nurse told me to go to the hospital. So I did and I am not dilated, my cervix is still pretty far back, no ruptured membranes, but the baby is very low. They hooked me up to the monitors and I was ranging from 2 at all times to 6 when I had bad cramps or contractions on the scale. The nurse called my doctor who wanted me to drink water. He wants me to wait to deliver by 38 weeks. Anyway I avoided the IV and the contractions and cramps eased up. He let me go home. I am still hurting however and trying to push water. The nurse told me that these contractions would not make me dilate unless I had them for about a week. Isn't 6 halfway there as far as pain level goes? Shouldn't that make me dilate or efface? The doctor is supposed to talk to me about it on Tuesday at my appointment, but I just wanted to see what you thought. I also was reading in the forums about irritable uterus. Is that what I have? I have to go back if it happens bad again or if I have a headache. I am just trying to relax and glad that Wednesday was my last day of work. Is there anything else I can do until Tuesday? Thanks for any help. Shari
