Will I be considered high risk in next pregnancy?From: anonymous@obgyn.netFri, 24 Jan 2003 16:32:29 -0600 (CST)
Hi, I suffered from Post partum thyroiditis following the birth of my first baby. I had high titres of microsomal (APO) antibodies at the peak of the thyroiditis. I am now permanantly hypothyroid (hashimoto's) and on thyroid replacement (just 0.25mcg levo at present). My TSh is 3 and my T4 is on the lower side of normal, but still considered to be ok with my dr. I am seriously thinking about having another baby. I wish to know your thoughts: 1. Would I be considered high risk in pregnancy? 2. Should I get my T4 more towards the hyper end of normal before trying because of the changes in the first weeks of pregnancy? 3. What specifics would you/ do you do for your clients/ did your drs do for you? (tests etc) Thank you. I am sorry to ask such questions, but my dr is a regular endocrinologist (her in the UK they do not have RE's per se) (27 years, normal pap smear recently. 1 miscarriage 1st trim, one full term vaginal delivery. Hypothyroid)
