painful contractions and thinning cervix at 23 weeksFrom: Alicia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 21 Jan 2003 20:49:03 -0600 (CST)
I have heard a lot about babies surviving as early as 22 weeks but when I went to the emergency room earlier this week and the doctor and nurses were like, well there's nothing we can do right now but pray the baby stays in until 25 weeks, that is the earliest we can expect it to survive. I live in a rural area so I just figured that maybe some hospitals just aren't capable of delivering a baby that early. This concerns me because I am 23 weeks and have been having strong contractions off and on for two weeks now. My cervix has softened and is slowly thinning out. I am on bedrest and worrying to death because I still have two weeks until my doctor's so-called "survival point." Is there anything else I can do to prevent labor before than?
