Sean, My first was an induced labor, vaginal birth, no complications. My second was also induced, this was due to me having gestational diabetes, again a vaginal birth with no complications.

My third, my EDD was 7/1/01, my doctor scheduled me for an induction on June 30, 2001, again because of gestational diabetes. However on June 29, the baby decided to do things his way, and I didn't need to be induced, another vaginal birth, no complications, other than meconium.

You have to remember that the due date is just an estimation, it isn't 100%. Some doctors will not worry about inducing until a woman is 2 weeks past her EDD, unless she is high risk.

Even if you and your wife and doctor decide to induce, it doesn't necessarily mean that it will work. Some women go back home, and come back the next day to try again.
