'To induce or not to induce' that is the question

I realize that there is no right or wrong answer to the question, even after reading all the induction threads on this board and talking to our obgyn doctor. I'm hoping we can make our decision base on your past experiences. A little history about ourselves. We're in the early 30's and this is our first child. My wife EDD is 1/18/03 and our last u/s shows the baby is between 9-10 lbs. Our doctor suggested that we could induce it last week (1/12/03), but won't recommend whether we should induce or to "let nature takes its course" so to speak. We still don't know whether we should induce or to wait for the baby to come out naturally. Fortunately, my wife is only 2 days from the EDD, but due to the large size of the baby, we are afraid that the longer we wait, the more complexity the birth process might become. I know the choices are ours to make, but we feel that we still don't have enough information to make one decision over the other. 2 questions based on your previous experiences:

1) Those that are induced here, I'm curious how many were delivered via c/s and how many were induced vaginally. I realize that we won't know until the birth process starts, but I'm trying to avoid the c/s route if possible.

2) I'm somewhat disappointed at our doctor not not being able to recommend. Just curious of any opinion on what we should do?
