Paxil withdrawl in newborn

Hello,

I have been on Paxil for approximately 10 years and continue to take it throughout my pregnancy on the advice of my physician. I have tried several times to wean myself off the paxil always unsuccessfully and with horrible side effects that I call withdrawl. My physician insists that Paxil does not cause withdrawl.

I have heard from women in situations similar to mine that when their baby is born it is often cranky, irritable, hard to settle down and goes through what seems like withdrawl from the Paxil.

My physician knows nothing about this and it's very hard to find info on this. As hard as it would be I would be willing to wean myself off the drug in the third trimester if this would prevent my child from going through the terrible withdrawl.

Anyone have any experience with this? Doctors: Any knowledge of this?

Thanks in advance for your help,

--
Jen
