39 weeks, 1 cm, -3 station, Is baby too high??From: Beth (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 9 Jan 2003 09:50:52 -0600 (CST)
At my 39 week appt. on Monday the midwife did a pelvic exam. She said I was 1 cm dilated, and the my cervix seemed "kind of long." The baby was at -3 station. From what I've been reading, this is too high and the baby should have dropped further down by now. My due date is Saturday (two days away), and if I do not go into labor my next appt. is Tuesday. My questions are: Is there any chance I may still have this baby on time or on my own? (She said they would induce next weekend if I hadn't delivered by then). Is it a sign that my pelvic bones may be to small since the baby has not yet dropped? Or can this still be normal to be this high at this stage in the game? Thanks so much for your help!
