Re: is it possible?????From: Alicia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 8 Jan 2003 23:26:40 -0600 (CST)
When I was on the pill, my doctor told me that I could skip week 4 of my pill and start a new pack to delay my period because I did not want to attend my prom in a white dress while on my period. She advised me not to do this often because there are side effects. She also told me that it does not protect against pregnancy during the new pack. Something about the hormone levels fluctuating. I can't remember exactly. Also, the pill is 99% effective and that is only if they are taken correctly, ALL of the time. There is always at least a 1% chance. I would suggest, if you are that worried about becoming pregnant, use the pill and a condom. My boyfriend and I used both for years until I went on medication to shut my ovaries down. We thought we were 100% protected. Well our little baby is due in May so I can tell you, NOTHING is 100% except not having sex. If you suspect you are pregnant, buy a home pregnancy test. Take it in the morning and follow the instructions exactly. Good luck - hope you get the results you want.
