Bleeding after Pap smear when pregnant.From: 9 (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 7 Jan 2003 15:50:41 -0600 (CST)
I am 9 weeks pregnant and had a Pap Smear today. I had some bleeding after it. Once, I even saw a 6 cm long, noodle thick dark blood/tissue clots. Is this normal? I had a Pap Smear over a year ago when I was not pregnant. I didn't feel anything and hardly see any blood. However, this time, it hurt during the test and I saw about 2 CC blood so far. I was given a pad for it which I noticed to be the thickest pad on the table. For the ultrasound exam after the Pap smear, they used a handheld transducer on my stomach instead of a vaginal transducer as I was told before Pap smear. Do pregnant women tend to bleed more after Pap smear? Any comment are appreciated. Thanks.
