Too much vitamin A can cause birth defects, and can even be fatal for a adult. It sounds like Precare is taking a very conservative approach by not having any Vitamin A at all. If your diet includes "yellow" veggies such as carrots, you are probably getting all you need for you and baby. The prenatal vitamins are especially useful for the folic acid and iron they contain because it can be difficult to get the proper amount from diet alone.

At your first prenatal visit, you might want to go over your diet with the doc as reassurrance, but chances are you're doing all the right things already. Congratulations!
