I asked this question myself, because I conceived 5 weeks post-vasectomy. On day 6 as well, we had "unprotected" sex, thinking it would likely be ok, because of the vasectomy and the fact that it was day 6 of my cycle. On or around day 14, i ovulated during sex (I felt the pain in my ovary) and my partner withdrew just before he ejaculated. My early ultrasound at 8 weeks was bang on with my last period, and my cycles have always been regular, so I am assuming that I conceived when I ovulated on day 14, with some pre-ejaculate that contained some left over sperm!! So, just wanted to point out that it can certainly happen under some 'trying' circumstances so to speak. My GP said that any "bad" quality of the sperm is generally weaned out thru spontaneous abortions, and if the pregnancy is healthy, then the odds of the child being healthy are no different than the general population. >
