miscarriage risk - progesteroneFrom: Janelle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 1 Jan 2003 18:10:58 -0600 (CST)
I had a miscarriage last year and am now almost 8 weeks pregnant. I have been living in Mexico and taking "progesterona" pills twice a day to to help avoid another miscarriage. I am visiting my family in the United States and realized that I do not have enough pills for the next 4 days until my return to Mexico. My doctor in Mexico has said I should get pills here and not miss any, but the pharmacist here says that they do not have progesterone pills (separate from other hormones) but use creams or suppositories. He said that I should just take one pill for the next 2 days and skip the following 2 days, then resume the pills when I return to Mexico. I am worried that allowing my progesterone level to go down could contribute to a miscarriage. I would love to hear any suggestions about possible options. Also I have terrible conjestion from a cold and wonder if any nasal spray or decongestant is not harmful to take during pregnancy. I am hoping for some information by Thursday (tomorrow) 1/2/03 but realize this may not be possible. Thank you! Janelle
