Blighted Ovum continuedFrom: Rachael (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 31 Dec 2002 19:38:15 -0600 (CST)
Late the same night I noticed a slightly purplish gray discharge, it scared me but i didnt really worry because i was just getting over an UTI. About an hour later there was no more discharge but when i wiped bright red blood with clots was on the tissue. Back to the er i went, they performed a pelvic, said my cervix was closed and it was probably in relation to the UTI, by that point the bleeding had gone back to being the discharge again. So they sent me home and told me to rest. Sunday there was some spotting first thing in the morning, but while in the shower there were strings of blood coming out, then that stopped and went back to spotting. That night I went to a different er and there they did a vaginal ultrasound, again an ultrasound i have yet to see. It showed a sac, pieces of placental tissue but no baby. So they took some blood and sent me home telling me to call my doctor and have him do the blood work again to see if my levels would start going down. Monday my doctor performed a pelvic, by now the bleeding was brown at times and at other times dark to bright red with clots. He said my cervix was closed, and i was still pregnant and brown meant old blood, so basically he believed me to be fine, just not 13 weeks pregnant but 6. I asked him how when the ultrasound a month ago showed me to be 6 to 8 weeks pregnant, he admitted he had never looked at the ultrasound. He wants to wait 2 weeks then see about taking the sac out in case it is early pregnancy.
