Blighted OvumFrom: Rachael (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 31 Dec 2002 19:36:35 -0600 (CST)
In the beginning of November I had a home test come back positive. Thanksgiving night i went to the er because i was having sharp pains on my left side and dizziness. The blood test showed my levels to be very high for 8 weeks gestation, as dated by my last period. So they performed a vaginal ultrasound, an ultrasound I have yet to see. They said that the sac containing the baby was in the uterus and things appeared to be fine for 6 to 8 weeks gestation. I cant remember what they called it, but the problem was that the thing that grows on your ovary to support the pregnancy was very large causing my ovary to swell and be very tender. They said it should cause no problems and would eventually shrink down. The next day I called my doctors office and let them know about the er visit and gave them permission to get the records, including the ultrasound report from the hospital. My first prenantal visit was on December 3rd, the pelvic exam went well and according to my doctor everything was just fine and stated my due date as July 8th 2003. My next appointment was scheduled for January 2nd of 2003. Just before Christmas I noticed some spotting and was having light cramps, so I went to the er and was diagonised as havin an UTI, they put me on medicine, on Saturday December 28th I took the last of the medication and was feeling much better.
