workup after miscarriagesFrom: Tina (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 31 Dec 2002 13:05:58 -0600 (CST)
Hello, I am 25 yrs old and have had 3 miscarriages over the past 2 years 2 of them this year within a span of 3 months. I had my first blood work for miscarriage after the second M/c.My TSH level was the only one which striked my obgyn rest were all normal. It was at 5.4 the day after the miscarriage. He reffered me to to a specialist who dismissed any action on it and only suggested monitoring next time i get pregnant. The thirdd time i was pregnant I begged for tsh test along with the hcg test.It was 5.9 during pregnancy. The doctor said since my t3 and t4 are in the normal range he did not act on it this time too.I saw a renowed specialist in my city after the miscarriage,my tsh was 3.5 so she too did not treat it and suggested monitoring only. I am now seeing a reproductive endo. He started the workup with extensive harmone tests which were all normal. He tested my TSH along with antibodies and noticed that I have antibodies to my thyroid. He sent me to the radiolgist for a scan of my thyroid and discovered 2 nodules of 5mm and 3 mm each.He has prescribed levoxyl .025 to me. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions on my course of action. Could the thyroid issues be related to my early losses(all before 7 weeks). Now that I am being treated with levoxyl is it safe for me to attempt another pregnancy? what r the chances of its viability.Should i wait some time for the medicine to kick in or can i try next cycle. Please reply thanks tina
