This is so NOT normal. You should NOT bleed in a pregnancy. It may be nothing, but certainly she should be checked out. And if I were her, I'd be changing doctors right about now. The weight gain seems normal for 18 weeks, so that shouldn't be a concern. The bleeding should be. I'm not a doc, but am confident in this advice! Good luck to her.
