Actually, I think this is a valid question. There are woman who have
"high risk" pregnancies and are told not to have sex with their husbands
during the "high risk" period. Being one of these "high risk"
pregnancies, it is my understanding that it is not just penetration and
the possibility of cervical friction and/or infection that is the reason
for these prohibition, but also the fact that orgasms cause the uterus
to contract. Therefore, if you have been directed by your doctor to not
have sexual intercourse, I believe that would include masturbation or
any sexual activity that could cause you to orgasm. However, if your
pregnancy is normal than there is nothing to worry about. I am not a
doctor, but this has been the advice given to me. Though I woould be
curious to hear from a Doctor on this topic.
