Re: Whats the matter - did I make you look stupid!! Re: Can I please have a DR to answer this... Just found out I am pregnant? Very wierd!!! Also, what is really necessary...From: Alicia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 28 Dec 2002 14:55:00 -0600 (CST)
For the person who claimed I was trying to get a "free ride" by applying for medicaid, that was not my intention. I wasn't trying to get pregnant, I had just shelled out all of my savings to have lupron treatment since my dad's insurance company wouldn't cover it. To make things worse, the lupron didn't work and I got pregnant. It forced me to drop out of school because I had some problems and I had to stop working. Since I wasn't in school, I was cancelled off of my dad's plan and didn't have anywhere else to turn. My boyfriend and I are trying to put ourselves through school, which is why we aren't as fortunate as you to be able to pay cash for everything. We're both only a couple of years out of high school, which pretty much means we have nothing. I am not offered insurance even though I now work for the school board, you have to make a certain amount of money and without that little thing called a degree, I can't make that amount. Same goes for my boyfriend. Just because we're young and struggling doesn't mean that we don't want what is best for our baby. I am worried to death, afraid that my baby will have birth defects because of the lupron and when I didn't think that I could recieve adequate prenatal care without insurance, I didn't know what to do. Because I didn't get medicaid, I am already making payments to my account at the hospital for a labor and delivery that won't take place for another 4 and a half months. You act like I'm so irresponsible. I happen to think that I'm a little more mature than what other women would do in my position. I've lost friends since I've become pregnant because they don't understand how serious the situation is. I know that the majority of them would have just given up and had an abortion or be recieving no prenatal care and living on the streets. The two of us are working so hard to finish school and put a roof over our heads and to make a decent home for our baby, I'm sorry if I don't live up to your standards but when it all comes down to it, we all want what is best for our children.
